East West Link

Beca, 2016 - 2017

I contributed to the East West Link Alliance, a project aimed at reducing congestion and improving connections between State Highway 20 and State Highway 1 along the Onehunga Foreshore, while enhancing access to Auckland’s industrial area. Representing urban design within the Alliance, I collaborated closely with the design team and mana whenua to develop the Urban and Landscape Design Framework (ULDF), integrating cultural, environmental, and artistic elements. Guided by strategies like Respect the Place, Restore the Whenua, and Reconnect the People, the ULDF reflected the site’s unique context. Although consent documents were submitted in 2016, the project was put on hold in 2017 due to a change in government.

Whilst at Beca, I was also a lead urban designer involved in the preparation of similar Urban and Landscape Design Frameworks for the Ngaruawahia Bypass and the Victoria Park Tunnel project.
